Introducing Exionos

Exionos is a new AI research company founded to build capable, well-understood foundation models with a credible path to open release.

01

Why we started

Exionos is an independent United States AI research company founded in 2026. We are building the technical foundation for original model research, including training systems, evaluation environments, and a model-safety program that develops alongside capability.

We believe the open model ecosystem needs more laboratories willing to pursue frontier performance and accept the discipline that real openness requires. Our aim is to contribute capable systems, clear evidence, and research infrastructure that others can inspect and improve.

Build at the frontier. Understand the system. Open it when the evidence is ready.
02

What we are building

Our first phase is focused on the foundations of a durable research lab. That means reliable data pipelines, efficient training infrastructure, rigorous evaluation, secure model development, and an honest record of what each experiment changes.

Exionos has no public models today. We are not presenting plans as completed systems. The work begins with research, measurement, and the operating discipline required to train repeatedly and learn from every run.

  • Efficient pretraining and data systems.
  • Reliable reasoning and tool use.
  • Evaluation methods tied to real decisions.
  • Model safety across training, release, and deployment.
03

Why open foundation models

Open foundation models allow researchers, universities, companies, and public institutions to study systems directly. They can test assumptions, adapt models to specialized needs, and build technical knowledge without depending entirely on a hosted interface.

Openness also raises the standard for the laboratory. A serious release needs useful weights, clear documentation, reproducible evaluations, known limitations, and enough technical detail for outside researchers to examine the work.

04

Safety before release

A model release changes who can use a system, how quickly it can spread, and which controls remain enforceable. Release strategy is therefore part of model safety, not simply a distribution choice.

Before any Exionos model becomes public, it must pass capability, reliability, security, and model-safety reviews. If the evidence does not support release, we will continue evaluation, narrow access, or keep the model private.

Open release is the intended outcome. It is never an automatic outcome.
05

The work ahead

The first chapter of Exionos is about building the laboratory itself. We will share substantive work when there is real evidence to publish. Until then, this introduction is the complete public article record.

Our standard is simple: make claims that the work can support, document important limits, and build an institution capable of contributing useful open systems over the long term.
